What: This is a collection of prayers I wrote and prayed with my church choir over the course of a decade or so, following our Thursday evening rehearsals, prior to our traditional Sunday service, or at special events. These prayers are inspired not only by my personal faith, but also by others in my choir, our church leaders, and other folks who have inspired me. Usually, I've composed these a day or two in advance on my iPhone, then read them from it in prayer, so most are of a length which comfortably fits on one iPhone screen. Note that some parts of a few prayers may have been written by others, in which case I've tried to duly credit them.
I hope you find these prayers useful for your choir or for any other appropriate purpose. Please feel free to individually use them in their entirety, or to highlight, copy, download, and edit their text offline to fit your particular occasion or circumstance.
Search Tips: The prayer you're looking for may not have been categorized as you might expect. So if a categorical search doesn't get it, please use the keyword search option with any unique word you might expect to find in your quest (and remember to clear any prior categories before doing so). Click on that little "i" in the gray box for tips on how to narrow your keyword or key phrase search.
Who: I'm Jon Larimore, president and unofficial chaplain of our choir at the time I created these prayers. Because I am no longer called upon to create additional prayers, this collection is now an archive.
Where: I've prayed each of these with my choir at Clarendon United Methodist Church, 606 North Irving Street, Arlington, VA 22201.
